Combination is one of the trickier skin
types to clean and keep healthy. Combination skin occurs when you have 2 or
more skin types present at the same time. Normally combination skin is dry on
the cheeks with the t- zone (chin, nose and forehead) being extremely oily.
Combination skin can be hard to clean, and you may need to use different
cleansers on the different areas of your face. The most important thing is to
find well balanced facial products. When you have acne and combination skin you
may have to treat the acne areas differently than the other areas. You will
have to experiment in order to find the right facial routine.
Home Acne Treatment for Combination Skin
Not all combination skin is oily and
dry. Some combination shin can be dry and sensitive. There is a great homemade
cleanser that helps to cleanse dry and sensitive skin. This easy at home
cleanser is made by placing 4 tablespoons of cream, 4 tablespoons of milk and 2
tablespoons of dried chamomile flowers in a double boiler. Let it sit over heat
for 30 minutes, making sure that it does not boil. After 30 minutes, let it cool
for 3 hours and then strain. The mixture can be kept in the fridge for several
days.
Exfoliating your skin is also a great
task to add to your facial cleansing routine. Many facial scrubs can easily be
made at home and help keep the skin healthy in order to reduce occurrences of
acne. One very simple facial scrub for combination skin is made with yogurt and
walnuts. To make this homemade scrub mix equal parts plain yogurt and ground
walnuts. To apply the scrub it is best to place the scrub directly on your face
with your fingertips in a circular motion. When washing off the scrub use
alternating warm and cool water. Using a toner and moisturizer after using this
scrub will provide ultimate results.
Best Acne Treatment for Combination Skin
The best thing to utilize when you have
combination skin is a gentle facial cleanser that is water- soluble. Those
with a combination of oily and dry skin will benefit from a foaming cleanser or
a gel- based cleanser. Remember to avoid bar soaps as they will cause dryness
and clog pores making you more prone to acne.
Toners are often a great way to clean
the skin and reduce your risk of acne. Due to the different skin types it is
best to use a toner that is free of any harsh ingredients, especially alcohol.
Using products with beta hydroxy acid
is a great way to reduce blemishes. This is because these products not only
work on the surface but get down deep into your skin to reduce pore size and
eliminate the bacteria that causes acne. It is important to find the form (gel
or lotion) that works best for you. Just remember that different sections of
your skin may need a different form of cleanser.
For acne specific treatment it is best
to spot treat the areas where you have acne. This will allow you to clear up acne
with various products depending on the skin type. Lotion based acne treatments
should not be used on your T- zone and other oily areas.
