Acne Treatment for Mature Skin
Some people think of acne as a teenage
phenomena. While breakouts and flare- ups can decrease as people get older, acne can occur at any
age. Even mature skin is at risk for developing acne. In fact, any time there
are hormonal changes in the body, the chance of acne increases.
This natural process may require us to
rethink our facial cleansing regimen. The products that used to work for acne
prone skin may not work as our skin matures and changes. By revising our facial
regimen we can continue to prevent acne from occurring. There are both home and
store bought facial remedies that can help you reduce the signs of acne on
mature skin.

Herbs can be used in a variety of ways
to regenerate skin cells. The herbs that work the best for mature skin include
rose, lavender, rosemary and fennel. Herbs that are considered to be
antioxidants like marjoram, ginkgo and witch hazel also help mature skin from
developing acne by preventing the creation of free radicals.
Acne is caused when dead skin cells and
oil become clogged in the pores. Mature skin may not be able to clear away dead
skin as quickly. In order to remove dead skin cells you should use an
exfoliating treatment on a regular basis. A great homemade exfoliate is made
with fruit and honey. To make this exfoliating treatment blend a half cup of
papaya, a half cup of pineapple, 1 teaspoon of honey and one capsule of wheat
germ (contents removed) in a food processor. The blended treatment should be
applied evenly to your face for 15 minutes.
As skin ages it is best to use a
moisturizer on a regular basis. The need for a moisturizer is a must for mature
skin because this type of skin tends to dry out more quickly. A great homemade
remedy designed to moisturize mature skin is made with a base of various oils.
In a small saucepan combine 1 teaspoon of rice bran oil, canola oil, avocado
oil and walnut oil, 2 teaspoons of lemon and lime juice, half teaspoon coconut
oil and a fourth of orange oil. Warm all ingredients on low heat. Once the
moisturizer is cooled pour into a container for daily use.
Best Acne Treatment for Mature Skin
As our skin ages we are faced with the
new task of finding the right facial regimen that will work to continue to
prevent acne. This process may take a few tries before perfecting the right
plan for mature skin. Below are a few tips to help you get started.
It is best to use ingredients that are
free of alcohol and fragrances. Harsher ingredients will cause the skin to dry
out and possibly become irritated. Begin with a mild cleanser. The best facial
cleanser for mature skin with acne is one that has ingredients such as sulfur
and salicylic acid. These two ingredients help to fight off acne.
In order to care for your skin from
the outside in you must add 2 main components to your skin care regimen:
exfoliating scrubs and moisturizer. As skin ages, the dead skin cells do not
shed as quickly as in past years. This may cause your skin to become dull
looking. By using an exfoliating scrub it will help to release dead skin cells
that become clogged in the pores. Mature skin tends to be more dry than it once
was. To further promote healthy skin it it best to use a thick moisturizer that
goes deep into the skin to repair dry skin caused by age.
